The Yavapai County Fire Consortium possesses a Certificate of Necessity (CON) allowing ground ambulance transport of sick or injured persons within the Consortium. Six Paramedic ambulances located throughout the Consortium are staffed with an EMT and a Paramedic to transport to local hospitals. For extremely serious cases, where the Paramedic on scene deems it appropriate, the use of an air ambulance (helicopter) will be used in place of the ground unit. Patients who are TRANSPORTED will receive a bill from the department for services rendered, regardless of residency. ALL medical billing done by the department is regulated by the Arizona Department of Health Services. Patients who request treatment by firefighters but not transportation may refuse transportation. There is no fee for medical treatment in the Consortium. Refusal of transportation must be approved by the Paramedic on scene AND the Physician providing medical control to that Paramedic, and must be contacted prior to refusal forms being signed. Ambulances transporting sick or injured persons MUST transport to the closest appropriate facility in accordance with state and federal laws. Confidential patient information WILL NOT BE RELEASED TO ANYONE OTHER THAN THE PATIENT. This includes copies of department patient care reports, ambulance billing, and dispatch information. To request available information, contact the Yavapai County Fire Consortium administrative offices during regular business hours.

IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GO TO A FIRE STATION. DIAL 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY. CREWS ASSIGNED TO A STATION MAY BE OUT OF QUARTERS ON ANOTHER EMERGENCY. THE 9-1-1 CENTER WILL BE ABLE TO DIRECT THE CLOSEST AVAILABLE UNIT(S) TO YOUR LOCATION.

Attempting to move or transport an injured or sick person may result in further illness or even death.
